Mani Rao

Mani Rao is the author of nine poetry books and two books in translation– of the Bhagavad Gita as a poem (Fingerprint Press), and Kalidasa for the 21st Century Reader (Aleph Books) which was a Finalist for the 2016 Lucien Stryk Translation Prize. She was a Visiting Fellow at the Iowa International Writing Program in 2005 and 2009, and the 2006 Iowa International Programs writer-in-residence. She has an MFA in Creative Writing and a PhD in Religious Studies— her forthcoming book is an anthropology of the visionary experience of mantra. See manirao.com for links to her work.
