Ngugi wa Thiong'o

Ngūgī wa Thiong'o is distinguished professor of English and Comparative Literature, at the University of California, Irvine. He is one of the leading African writers and scholars at work today, he is the author of many novels, short stories, essays, a memoir and several plays. In May 2017, Yale University awarded him with an honorary Doctor of Letters for his profound contribution to world literature, and his commitment to highlighting the importance of African languages through writing in Gikuyu.
